Neuromodulators are a type of purified protein called botulinum toxin, which is produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. When injected into muscles, it temporarily blocks nerve signals that cause muscle contractions, resulting in a reduction in muscle activity.

This procedure works by binding to nerve endings at the site of injection and blocking the release of a chemical called acetylcholine, which is responsible for transmitting nerve impulses to the muscles. When acetylcholine is blocked, the affected muscle is temporarily paralyzed, which can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines caused by repetitive muscle movements.

Neuromodulator injections are commonly used to treat:

  • Wrinkles
  • Frown lines
  • Smile lines
  • Between the eyebrows
  • Crow’s feet around the eyes
  • Brow lift
  • TMJ

It is also used to treat a variety of medical conditions, such as migraines, excessive sweating, and muscle spasms.

It is important to note that Neuromodulators are a prescription medication and should only be administered by a licensed healthcare provider. The effects of this procedure typically last for 3-6 months before gradually wearing off, at which point additional injections may be necessary to maintain the desired results.
